The hugely successful Arc’teryx Climbing Academy is returning to Langdale in the Lake District for a third time, with a handful of new additions to make 2023 its biggest year yet.

Taking place over the 1st May bank holiday weekend, an extra half day of events has been added to the roster, offering participants even more of the skills and tuition required to improve their climbing and adventuring.

For the first time, the Arc’teryx Climbing Academy will provide 40 pre-bookable camping spots on-site for ticket holders, as part of a revamped Base Camp located at the National Trust’s Sticklebarn, in the Langdale Valley.

International School of Mountaineering (ISM) experts will lead a series of clinics and workshops around the valley’s crags, boulders, and hills.

Participants of every ability will have the opportunity to develop and advance their climbing skills, with guide-led clinics on trad, multi-pitch, bouldering, scrambling, and toprope, as well as mountain safety and rescue skills. There are also women-only sessions for all levels, and new full-day clinics, too.

Off the rocks, night owls can join a team of experts for a wild camping trip in the hills around Langdale. Back at Base Camp, participants can loosen up with live music on Saturday night, and kick back during the film night on Sunday.

During the day at Base Camp, the academy partners will be demoing technical gear across the weekend, inviting participants to try out the kit. Partners including GORE-TEX and Grangers will also be on hand with a care and repair service, with pre-booked slots to wash, fix, and sew up your existing outdoor equipment and clothing. Artist, climber and Arc’teryx ambassador, Tessa Lyons will also be giving free art workshops and a live drawing sessionat the Basecamp too.
