As Tatiana Weston-Webb from Brazil and Brisa Hennessy of Costa Rica took part in the semi-final of the Olympic surfing competition in Tahiti, an enormous whale tried to steal the show!

It’s not the first time, wildlife has hogged the headlines in surfing competitions… Australian pro Mick Fanning was famously caught on camera being attacked by a shark in 2015.

Luckily the whale was quite far away, but definitely made it presence known.

We love seeing surfing in the Olympic schedule!
